Found the ‘main’ Fort de Plappeville yesterday after we’d headed in slightly the wrong direction the day before!
Although, at one point we were only about 10 minutes walk from the fort…enough said.
Vast would be an understatement. It really is quite spectacular and in remarkably good condition.
Take a look at the Battle of Metz, 1944 and you’ll see what a strategic role they played in the defence of Metz.
